The European Commission, together with the Executive Agency for Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (EASME) and Ricardo Energy & Environment – a global sustainability consultancy, organized on the 6th of October in Brussels the event Bioenergy in the EU: Converting policies into impacts. eseia, coordinator of the BioEnergyTrain project, participated at the event.
Ricardo Energy & Environment presented the results of the Review of bioenergy projects implemented under Intelligent Energy – Europe II. The report was appointed to assist EASME and evaluate the impacts of 48 bioenergy projects. The presentation was followed by a Panel Discussion on bioenergy amongst five EC Directorate-Generals (DG Energy, DG Environment, DG Agriculture and Rural Development, DG Internal Market, Industry, Entrepreneurship and SMEs, and DG Research and Innovation). The DG representatives unanimously agreed that bioenergy is the most important renewable energy career in Europe and as such should be fully supported by a strong energy policy. eseia project BET – BioEnergy Train was also presented as a good example of integrating professional education formats with industrial and regional players in the field of bioenergy.
